Seeing as this is my first ever blog post, I'd like to start off with a brief introduction. My name is Kailey and I am a freshman in college, kind of. As a junior and senior in high school, I took part in post secondary enrollment option (PSEO) and was able to take college courses in high school and receive both high school and college credit. So as I begin my college journey, I already have around 25 course credits achieved and will be taking sophomore classes as a freshman. I am hoping to major in Early Childhood Education and minor in Spanish.
I love to travel and am passionate about languages and cultural diversity and understanding. I have travelled throughout the United States, Europe and even Singapore. If it were up to me, I would not even be attending college, instead I'd spend the money on traveling. I believe that the best way to learn is through life experiences. I've had enough of the sit down shut up attitude of the American school system. I don't want to memorize and regurgitate what I know my professor wants to hear. I want a hands on learning program where I can experience things for myself and come up with my own ideas about myself and the world. I am more than my GPA.
I also love photography. Snapping and editing pictures has become a hobby of mine, so occasionally I will share some of my favorite pictures with you. I've also recently fallen victim to my own white teenage girl stereotype, as I am currently obsessed with One Direction. Harry Styles is seriously my scribe. I am also an avid reader and enjoy anything from fantasy books to classics. The Harry Potter series is my all time favorite book series and Looking for Alaska by John Green comes in second. Lastly, I am a Christian. I go to a Evangelical Free Church that celebrates the joy in Jesus Christ and believes that the Bible is the unaltered truth and word of God. Wow, that personality description really does make me look like a nerd with no friends.
I recently moved out of my parents house and into an apartment with my best friend who ironically is also named Kailee. She's a bit crazy at times, but we've been best friends and inseparable since the sixth grade. Living with her, every day is a new adventure. Don't worry, I promise Kailee's crazy antics will make it into my daily blogs.
I started this blog as a way for me to get certain ideas and passions out of my mind and on paper. It's a lot easier to keep track of my thoughts if I keep them somewhere. I hope this blog will become a place of positivity and adventure. You see, my life is quite boring. I intend to change that because as my question on my profile reads, why wait to be happy? Life is now. It won't wait for you. I'm ready to jump in and start making my own adventures. Are you?
